BCCI & DFC Creates New Partnership via MOU

On August 4th, 2015 The Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) formalized a mutually beneficial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Mrs. Kim Aikman, Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of BCCI and Mrs. Natalie Ewing Goff, General Manager of the Development Finance Corporation were signatories to the MOU.

The MOU will foster improved services for both institutions by improving access and quality of service to members and clients of the respective organizations through collaboration and sharing of resources.

Mrs. Aikman stated, “In December of last year the Chamber looked at how we could have expanded our outreach to people or to businesses throughout the country and we were looking for a potential partner and we started discussions with the Development Finance Corporation since we had clients in common. We also had different services that we offered in common and we decided to try to pursue an MOU which finally came into fruition today.”

This is the 2nd MOU the Development Finance Corporation has entered into, the first being with BELTRAIDE’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) where the common interest is to provide greater developmental support, seed capital and better management practices which strengthens the long-term viability and success of small businesses in Belize.

Mrs. Goff, DFC’s General Manager noted, “For our part, the Development Finance Corporation has, for the past few years, been looking at how we can establish partnerships.

As you all are aware, partnerships is the way to go right now and a couple years ago, we entered into an MOU with the Small Business Development Center or BELTRAIDE and so this is the second of such partnerships that we are entering into, mainly for the benefit of our clients who are the people of Belize.”
