THE POSITION

The Senior Portfolio Officer is responsible for the efficient management of the DFC’s loan portfolio comprising of the most complex and highest credit risk, while supporting the Corporation’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) objectives within the loan portfolio. The incumbent leads and develops a high-performance team to achieve corporate goals and objectives.

Headquarters, Belmopan

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience in loan underwriting and portfolio management
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Supervisory Management

Key Responsibilities Include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor loan portfolio daily, addressing delinquent accounts to improve loan quality.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis, track delinquency rates, and recommend collection strategies.
  • Supervise loan projects, ensuring compliance with reporting and risk management protocols.
  • Oversee client compliance, reviewing financial statements, insurance, and other key submissions.
  • Approve loan servicing actions and negotiate repayment terms within delegated authority.
  • Manage collateral administration, including appraisals and field visits.
  • Initiate loan recovery efforts in accordance with the Corporation’s policies.
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to identify and mitigate portfolio risks.
  • Prepare internal and external portfolio reports.
  • Assist branch offices with credit administration.
  • Support Relationship Officers in complex client cases.
  • Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement of credit monitoring practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, fostering a high-performance and client-focused culture.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees in risk monitoring and credit mitigation techniques.
  • Motivate and support team members in achieving corporate objectives.

  • Experience in property valuation (certification would be an asset)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently, as required; this requires the possession of a privately owned motor vehicle and valid driver’s license
